Paper folders are very handy machines that make folding large quantities of documents quick and easy. That is, if they work properly. If your device is giving you problems, check out this handy guide to troubleshoot what may be wrong with it.

"My paper folder isn't being fed properly. What can I do?" It's not all that uncommon to experience feeding problems with a paper folder. This type of issue can be caused by any number of things, such as:
Your documents have just been printed and the ink might still be a bit damp. If this is the case, wait until the ink dies completely and then try again. Be sure to do this in the future too so you can avoid similar problems. It's pretty common for the separator or rollers to become dirty or even dusty especially if you use the machine a lot. The debris and gunk can make it very difficult for the device to operate properly. Make sure you check to see the condition of these parts and clean them with a mild soapy solution if they're dirty. (Note: the folder should be unplugged when you do this.) It may sound unbelievable, but sometimes your folder needs more paper to run like it should. Therefore, it never hurts to have some extra sheets in the feed tray.

"I pressed the start/stop button and nothing's happening. Help!" Don't panic - this could be a relatively easy fix. Here's what to do:
First, make sure the machine is plugged in properly. You should also check to see if the cord is inserted into the machine securely. If your machine is plugged in, a paper jam may be the cause of the problem. Look to see if the "Error" light is on. If it is, you have a paper jam that needs to be fixed. Your instruction manual will offer guidance on clearing things up. If your machine still isn't working after checking the power supply and it's not jammed, you may want to call in a professional to see what's wrong with it.

"The machine seemed to run fine but my documents are all wrinkled! How can I prevent this from happening again?" Your documents may be wrinkled for a couple of different reasons. Such as:
The ink isn't totally dry. In the future, don't fold your documents while the ink is still wet. Make sure the rollers are clean before you start running documents through the device. Too much dust and the like can make it difficult for the machine to fold your documents properly. Be sure the clean the rollers regularly. (See above for directions.) There's a possibility that the fold plates aren't correctly aligned. Follow the instruction in your instruction manual to see how to reset them, if necessary. It shouldn't take too long to do.

These tips should help you out if your paper folder isn't working properly. If they don't, consult the instruction manual or call in a professional for further assistance. Good luck!
